“Incense. Angel.”

Blessings folk!

Zechariah the priest had drawn the lot of service.

Luke 1:8-10
Now while he was serving as priest before God when his division was on duty,

according to the custom of the priesthood,
he was chosen by lot to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.

And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the hour of incense.
ESV

The people were outside praying while he offered incense.
Then this happened…
Luke 1:11-12
And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord
standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

And Zechariah was troubled when he saw him,
and fear fell upon him.
ESV

An angel appeared on the right side of the altar of incense.
As Zechariah offered incense and angel suddenly appeared.

Can you imagine?
What would our reaction be?

Likely the same as Zechariah.
Troubled.
Fear-filled.

Do angels appear today?
Yes.
In many and varied manners.
Sometimes forthright as in this example.
Other times concealed…
Heb 13:2
Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers,
for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
