“Silent”
Blessings folk!
Zechariah responded to the Angel by saying “how can I know that what you are saying is true?” “I and my wife are old.”
Unbelief.
Excuses.
The Angel responds back.
Luke 1:19-20
And the angel answered him,
“I am Gabriel.
I stand in the presence of God,
and I was sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.
And behold,
you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things take place,
because you did not believe my words,
which will be fulfilled in their time.”

Oops.
Zechariah is “in trouble” with the Angel…and the Lord?
The Angel introduces himself.
This is point of cordiality.
He wanted Zechariah to know who he was.
He wanted Zechariah to know that he stood in the very Presence of God.
Then this.
The Angel was sent by God to speak to Zechariah.
The Angel was sent by God to bring this good news.
Yet, Zechariah did not believe.
We are told forthright.
Therefore, as a result, Zechariah would be unable to speak until the good news came to fruition.
It would be fulfilled in its time.
Zechariah’s silence would be constant affirmation of the validity of the good news.
I suspect that he now believed…
