“Nothing Will Be Impossible With God”

Blessings folk!

Gabriel responded to Mary’s inquiry as to how she would conceive.

Luke 1:35
And the angel answered her,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you;
therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.
ESV

He then dropped more truth on her.
Truth that few knew.

And behold,
your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son,
and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.

For nothing will be impossible with God.”
ESV

Elizabeth, Mary’s relative…we do not know exactly how they are related, had conceived a son.
It was already done.
In her old age.
She was six months along.

One who was barren has conceived.
One who is a virgin will conceive.

Why did the angel share this?

As an exhortation that “nothing will be impossible with God”.

Mary’s response to this?

Luke 1:38
And Mary said,
“Behold, I am the servant of the Lord;
let it be to me according to your word.”
And the angel departed from her.
ESV

I am the servant of the Lord.
Let it be to me according to your word.

I believe it was at this moment that she was overshadowed by the Lord and conceived.
Nothing “provable”, but this declaration of faith is powerful.

Do we live likewise?
Are we servants of the Lord?
Do we declare “be to me according to Your Word”?
