“Simeon Blesses”

Blessings folk!

As can be imagined, Joseph and Mary were amazed at the Word of Simeon to Jesus.

But, there was more…
Luke 2:33-35
And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him.

And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother,
“Behold, this child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel,
and for a sign that is opposed

(and a sword will pierce through your own soul also),
so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”
ESV
Simeon blessed the parents.

Then he spoke directly to Mary.
Intense words.
Tough words.

“Behold”…pay attention!
This child…Jesus…is appointed.
There is purpose.
There is plan.

He is appointed for the fall and arising of many in Israel.
He is appointed for a sign that is opposed.
He is appointed so that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.

Some will believe.
Some will not.
Some of Israel.
Some outside of Israel.

He will reveal the hearts of many.

Thus has the Lord Jesus Christ - Messiah - done.
Thus He will continue to do.

A sword would pierce through Mary’s soul…not her physical heart.
There would be pain.
There would be suffering.
