“Overflowed”

Blessings folk!

More about the crossing of the Jordan…

Jos 4:15-18
And the LORD said to Joshua,

“Command the priests bearing the ark of the testimony to come up out of the Jordan.”

So Joshua commanded the priests, “Come up out of the Jordan.”

And when the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the LORD came up from the midst of the Jordan, and the soles of the priests’ feet were lifted up on dry ground,
the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and overflowed all its banks, as before.
ESV

The Lord said to Joshua.

I wonder “how” the Lord “said”.

Did Joshua hear the audible voice of the Lord?
Was it a “still, small voice”…inward?
Did the Lord appear to him?
Did Joshua have a dream/vision?

These are detailed, contemporaneous instructions.

I suspect audible…?

Joshua was obedient.

The priest came forth from the river…bearing the Ark.
When their soles landed on dry ground, the waters of the Jordan returned…

• to their place
• overflowing all its banks
• as before

This is the reason we know that the Jordan was experiencing flooding at the initial crossing.

The Power of the Lord.
The Provision of the Lord.
